As a transformers fan, I've watched the rise of MLP with some bemusement- as hasbro properties from the same 80's toy explosion, they're almost intertwined (although not, thankfully, as much as GI Joe and Transformers which you could even kind of argue existed in the same cartoon universe, al la Dr Who and Torchwood). The source of the current explosion is the internet friendliness of the creator of the current MLP series (Friendship is magic), as shown by her willingness to make derpy hooves a real character (that's a pony the fanboys saw in the background in one episode and started obsessing over. Bang, new character

)

It's a harmless nostalgia buzz and they don't hurt anyone, as a TF fan I really, really can't sit in judgement!

I'm still trying just to get my head around 'bronies'. It's the bizarrely large proportion of adult males in this Pony obsession that baffles me.

But yes, as someone who in his day loved Samurai Jack & Dexter's Laboratory, I ain't going to throw stones

Have you watched it? Because that might help you understand it - even if it's not to your taste, you can get an idea of the quality. For me, I watch My Little Pony because it's just a really good, well written, high quality show - same reason I go to see pixar movies in the cinema.
