Hi all, I wonder if anyone has any ideas for me to improve social life....I am a blow-in to cork and would like to meet more people.
I am in early 40s, family almost reared and I am young in my attitudes. I have a happy relaxed approach to life but as a separated woman I find I am on the edge of the social scene  .
I am an avid reader, like theatre, art, all types of music and love to walk, nature and would like to meet others and make new friends.
I don't feel or look my age and I am tired of sitting in front of telly like an old wan:rolleyes:.

    Any ideas welcome!

The Old Oak, plenty of young lads go there looking for women in their 40s that don't look or feels their age :P

What your feeling is known as a mid life crisis. We'll all experience it, seems to be hitting people younger these days though...

do you mean the Oak is terrible ...or the young lads going looking for older women is terrible ???

Scotts can sometimes be good, I'm in my 30's (but in Dublin and taken ;) ) ... theres a pub - cant remember the name...but its down the end the street that the oak/scotts are on - head in the direction of bus station - turn right at the end of the street...its just on yer right.

theres plenty of places to go and people to meet - just a matter of finding the right person.

    Counihans/costigans....other suggestions.

Thanks RoverJames but doubt if my OH would like me doing that LOL..

I meant to make friends as I am in LDR and sometimes have free evenings and would like to socialise more

To star.chaser : just cos I want to get out and socialise in my 40s does not mean I am having a mid-life crisis:mad:......I am in my 40s not dead!!

No probs, no mention of an OH in your opening post, it read, to me like you were looking for a man to be honest.

Hi Milkmaid - I've just pm'd you so hopefully that may give you a few ideas. And I didn't get the impression you were on the MANHUNT from your original query - wow, the way some people can interpret things. Get out there girl - LIFE BEGINS AT 40!!! Judes

to be fair it did say " as a separated woman "...

how about joining a hill walking club? i know there are several around. def one in crosshaven, usually a sociable crowd. is there any sport you are interested in ? generally sports tend to be great for mixing and meeting new people :)
