Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got a quote of 650-750 from a dealership.
This was just for timing belt.

I think I should get the water pump replaced while I'm at it, but after that quote from the dealer, I ain't touching them.

Anyone know what this should cost and where to go to get value?

    Location?
There's a guy in Belfast that's supposed to be good. Can't remember the name now but search the forum and you should find it.

As far as I understand it that is the same engine as used in Opel vectras, Fiat and Alfa diesels, if so I was quoted €300 but the local Nissan garage for replacing the belts alone, I'm sure the local indy would do it a bit cheaper than than, the water pump is a must on these too.

Biko, I'll travel anywhere if it's a decent price. Is the guy in Belfast Walsh motors or something? Are they not an audi/VW dealership or do they do any car?

Bladespin, I don't know about the opel, but it's the same engine as the Alfa 1.9 JTD, as far as I'm aware and I think it's made by Fiat.

I got my 9-3 Tid done by an indy here in Galway for 400 a few weeks ago.

That engine is made by Fiat and is also fitted to Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Opel cars. It might be worth ringing around a few of those dealers for a price, Opel were doing special offers on timing belt changes last year afaik.
