I decided against. He was only 3/1.

A par for Rollins at the last should secure a top 20, Estes currently in top 20, Villegas and Snedeker still with outside chances of places (Top 10 and 20 respectively).

i wonder was in tuition eggin him on for the par at 18,me thinks not,he was pretty quick to poopoo your selection, never again,i did say at the time it wasn't a good idea b4 the tourney disecting other people's bets

remeber he was helping you out:D

As far as I'm aware, he hasn't played most (if not all) those last 4 tournaments here.

Taking all variables into account, I'd expect Rollins to finish in the top 20 here, 1/3 times meaning 4/1 is a very good price.

fair play, what's the story with the tie's ,is it the exact same as an e/w bet? ie tied with 6 divide odds by 6 with full stake

If you think I take joy when another punter loses then you have the wrong impression of me, which you have had all along anyway.

I also must add that if anyone on here has a punt on a golfer in contention I'll always keep track of it on shot-tracker if my own bets aren't going well.

    You are sour indeed.

    Top 10 Finish

    Tim Petrovic
    6/1 (bet365) 2pt win

T-5 last weekend at Memorial where he finished 2nd in driving accuracy, 13th in greens hit and 13th in sand saves. In recent Valero Texas Open finished 1st in driving accuracy and 6th in greens hit. Followed that up with similar statistics in the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Impressive stuff and although the putter let him down slightly last week, these greens won't be as fast or treacherous. Missed three cuts in his last four starts here but did finish 2nd in 2002.

    Top 10 Finish

David Toms 5/2 (SkyBet) 2pt win

Two-time winner who finished 2nd in 2005 and tied 2nd last year. Toms also finished 3rd in 2007. Out of form in the last 6 week's until he finished an impressive T-13 at the Crowne Plaza Invitational two week's ago

    St. Jude classic
Dreadful first round last week at Memorial for Camillo Villegas but that can be forgiven as he hadn't been too competitive of late. He bounced back though in his last 3 rounds to finish a respectable tied 28th. I fancy him on this type of course and for me Skybet have him over priced currently for a top 10.

Selection offering value - 1pt Camillo Villegas top 10 finish @ 11/4 (Skybet)
There's a lot of serious value in the top 20 betting at the St. Jude this week IMO.

For various reasons, the likes of John Rollins (4/1), Bob Estes (11/2), Brand Snedeker (5/1) and John Merrick a whopping 8/1 just a few of the standout over priced players.

1 of the 4 in to turn a profit and I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen.

Bet: 1pt on each of the 4.

Results: Rollins (cut for ties), Villegas and Estes all place

    US Open

Top 10 Betting - 1pt Luke Donald @ 10/3 (SJ) Donald has the perfect game for what will be a 'fairways and greens' type tournament. He is playin gsome of the best golf of his career in recent weeks and from what I've heard, the rough, both along the fairways and around the greens will be extremely thick. The course will play short at just over 7,000 yards. Superb putter and this tournament may be a case of who makes the least mistakes rather than birdies.

Top 20 Betting - 1pt Rhys Davies @ 6/1 (PP), Lacking experience in huge events but he has an old head on his shoulders. Best putter I've seen since Woods and course management is already something he has in his pocket at such a young age. Could very well surprise with his all round top game.

    BMW International

1pt Ross Mc Gowan Top 20 @ 4/1 (Skybet) - McGowan showed signs he's coming into a bit of form after a few niggling injuries at the US Open last week. He mentioned in an interview that the shorter courses suit his game and that could benefit him this week.

Alejandro Canizares backed him today 2 points @5/2 Top 20,2 points @11/2 Top 10

    AT&t
Don't know a lot about the course, par 70,not long, which conversly might actually suit Tiger
However i'm going for a few outsiders for the Top 10,
    Spencer Levin @12/1 2 points
    RS Johnson @20/1 1 point

    AT&T National

    1pt Carl Pettersson Top 10 finish @ 9/1 (skybet)

Under the bookie's radar this week and hardly surprising considering there's no course form to go on but Pettersson obviously likes Donald Ross designs having won the Wyndham Championship in 2008 at Sedgefield. Carded a +1 final round last week at the Travelers and and still finished tied for 34th so his game is in decent shape.

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

    Open De France

    1pt Pablo larrazabal Top 20 finish @ 9/2 (Totesport)

7/4 on Paddypower will give you an idea of just how off the 9/2 price is for a man who pretty much destroyed the field here 2 years ago and finished just 2 shots back last week. Can't believe that price actually and it isn't a mistake as they go 9/1 a top 10.

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

Now cut to 13/8 on PP, in at 7/4 on skybet and in at 4/1 on Extrabet. I've been doing this a long time but I still find the difference of opinion fascinating.

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

    AT&T International

1pt Scott McCarron Top 20 @ 5/1 (Extrabet) McCarron was runner up to Pettersson at the Wyndham 2 years ago so another that likes Donald Ross designs and has been showing signs of form this season. Tied for 13th last week.

I have been keeping an eye on this thread, decided to back larrazabal

Looks like I picked the wrong one out of your picks :)

    Barclays Scottish Open

Francesco Molinari Top 10 finish @ 11/4 (ladbrokes) - Fancy Molinari to be a factor this week. He's the 1 towards the top end of the betting that really jumps out at me. Fantastic tee to green game can exploit the Loch Lomond course. Missed out in a playoff last week.

    John Deere classic

Aaron Baddeley Top 10 @ finish 5.4 (Betfair) - An annual birdie fest on the PGA tour. A weak field and Baddeley has a decent record around this track. Good performance last week and a fantastic putter so birdies won't be a problem.

I'm not into Golf but you seem to know your stuff Valueseeker. Have had a read through your site too. Might take your advice on the above a double. Have a friend who done a double of Ernie Els top 10 finish in the Scottish Open and Tim Clark top 10 finish in the John Deere classic. Was thinking of maybe throwing 20 on each. My mates double is 6.88.

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

The double I'd estimate at only about a 10-15% win expectation and you'd get odds about 16/1 -18/1 depending on the sportsbook so it's good value but very much a longshot.

For a better chance of a return, maybe do a yankee with my 2 and your friend's 2 picks.

    Top 20 Betting
    VJ Singh @ 4/1
    Peter Hanson @4/1

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ValueSeeker

I was looking at Hanson myself. His win earlier this year was in some of the windiest conditions I've seen and he was actually +4 at 1 stage. Speaking of that tournament, how about 33/1 on our own Colm Moriarty for a top 20. Finished a respectable tied 32nd in that windfest!

    British Open Championship

1pt Ryan Moore Top 20 Finish @ 9/2 (SJ) Moore is in superb form on the PGA tour and his top driving is what gets my attention here in expected high winds. Competent all round golfer and should cope with the challenge and 9/2 is too big on a top 20.

1 point on Loren Roberts @ 28/1. Top 20 finish.

Would be worried about his lack of length and maybe his tee time, but we'll see, cracking player.
