Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mavic Crossmax SLR wheels

    Hi Guys

    Got a set of Mavic Crossmax SLR wheel as a present from the wife.. got the rotors and cassette fitted and when I put the wheels back on the bike the rear wheel was rubbing against the brake on 1 side, rode for a while a the rotor is still rubbing, I noticed on the rear wheel a black plastic "spacer or Disc" between the wheel and the cassette which is causing the rotor to rub,, should this plastic disc be there or should it have been removed before the cassette was fitted??

    The disc rotor may be positioned slightly differently to your previous hub - this is pretty normal. You just need to realign your rear disc caliper to match the new disc position. What brakes are they?

    The plastic thing is a "pie plate" to avoid damaging your spokes if the chain goes over the back of the cassette. You can leave it on or take it off depending on your risk/aesthetics preferences :).

    The brakes are Formula K24.. so do I loosen 1 of the allen bolts and move it and re tighten it?

    Quick way - loosen the allen bolts, pull the brake so that it self-aligns to the rotor and then tighten up. If the mis-alignment is small, this might work.

    Otherwise you will need to get thin (1mm, 2mm, 5mm) shims to place between the bolts and the caliper/frame to get the spacing right.

    Cool present BTW, they're a super wheelset.
