your thought process is your inner voice.. so when you think you feel sad about having no inner voice that thought that made you sad is your inner voice....

But do some people actually perceive it as a voice?
    That's the bit I don't get.

that would be a memory of someones voice. ur thought process is exaclty that, its not ur outer voice that you hear its not ur accent... its an internal monologue... the 'hearing voices' part that you may be asking about is referning to memories of voices that are brought back into account along with the inner voice... thats my opinion

Has anyone tried not to think? It's impossible! When I try to I think I'm doing well until I realise that I've been repeating "Don't think, don't think, don't think" in my head.

YES! I thought everybody did! Say the Hail-Mary, in your head. Whose voice is it? Same to you Novella.

Now if you're hearing voices OUTSIDE your head, that aren't really there, as realistically as if they were, THEN you should be worried:pac:

No thanks, I'll go with something less irritating reminiscent of being forced to pray as a child :P

Ok a quote from a film or something, a poem, whatever. You do agree that you "hear", albiet in your head, the words being pronounced? Well, for most people, its their own voice they hear!
