Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seeing as there was a thread for the Pepsi advert I thought I'd put up the Nike one too. Saw it posted on Twitter a couple of hours ago.

The marketing genius of Nike strikes again. This is in my opinion the best sports ad there has been out in years and is far superior to the Pepsi one.

Yeah it's a good ad. I liked it over the Pepsi one which I wasn't crazy about. The prominent use of Ronaldinho is a bit funny.

Fair play to Ronaldo who can say he's had a Simpsons version of himself, and he didn't have to appear in a crappy new episode to get it.

    This is incredible!

I've never said "wow" so many times during an ad!

Nike always do this, but i have to say that is probably the best ad i've ever seen! Amazing!

    Me like...:D

A thoroughly excellent ad, that probably cost more to make than the combined national debt of the entire African continent put together. Stunning visuals and some genuinely funny moments.

I was gonna ask.Its not from a new epsiode?

    Ahahaha ronaldinho's in the ad.

Iniesta, Fabregas & Pique all at the one table. Sign of the future there, hmm?

(Yes, yes, I know they're all Spanish.. duh..)

Ronnies there but the more importantly no Messi. Nearly a great ad.

Gotta love the Kobe Bryant & Roger Federer cameos, particularly Rooney kicking Feds arse at Table Tennis! Hilarious!!! :D

    Brilliant ad.

The England/Rooney initial excerpt when the music kicks in, is class.

    Maybe Messi doesn't use Nike?

Like the ad. Clearly didn't show Ronaldo's free kick result as it went smash into the wall anyway. And they used Hocus Pocus by Focus in there too...I like it!

I think Adidas might have objected to that!

I know yeah, he does F50 ads. Still think an ad with him included would be better despite him obviously not being nike endorsed, since ya know, generally now considered the best on the planet as opposed to Ronnie not even going to the world cup.

Give some famous player millions to endorse him in some way, and then see how happy you would be if that same person was used as an advertising tool for your biggest rival.

What are you on about, I'm well aware Messi can't appear on a nike ad?

    Superb ad, absolutely brilliant.

I find it odd that the Umbro logo is still on the Englad jerseys. Did Nike buy Umbro or something?

Seems like you're saying you want the ad to be better by putting in Messi.

    cf. Adidas and Nike gloves.

I think they could lose the first minute. I was bored until the Rooney bit which was brilliantly done, and the rest is pretty good.

I'm just saying an ad with all the top players in the world would be better with him included, politics aside.

But they didn't use the official Ivory Coast shirt, it was just a generic one. Same for Cannavaro's Italy kit.

It really is an amazing ad.

    Great ad :D
Almost as good as the one from 2002(Cantona)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,624 ✭✭✭Dancor

And to think if it wasnt for T.Henry Paul McShane could have been in that add

Whats up with Rooneys ''nightmare'' scene and the English fans rioting/moving towards the police? Didnt think they would suggest the English fans are trouble makers.

Excellent ad, Rooney looked very normal well suited to the beard and that caravan:pac:

That is one of the worst ads on tv imo.

That Carlsberg ad is brilliant. And no doubt if it was an irish one with irish world champions on it, everyone would be creaming over it.

Holy crap! I got shivers with the Rooney bit. That was insane! Come on England!

And the 3 Spanish players (Iniesta, Pique and Fabregas); Barcelona!

Nike ad is excellent, quite long though, it will cost them a few bob to start running this during the WC. Some clever advertising exec just earned himself a nice bonus in any case.

Just watching it again, is that Tim Howard and Landon Donovan at about 1:08?

They could never show that on TV, I reckon they will cut it to just show individual player bits.

The worst thing about the world cup (apart from Ireland never being there) are the terrible ad's.
I don't care how "cool" they are, they're all terrible.

    Glazers Out!

I just hate ad's in general, and football ones do my head in especially.
    Think Crouchy in Pringles ad:(

Ah come on you can't compare the Pringles ad to the Nike one. At least they used a football in this one.

True there are some terrible ads but in fairness Nike are usually reliable when it comes to putting out a polished promotion. Some of the ads they run in America are fantastic
