Has anyone else noticed just how wrong these "weather stations" that use a barometric trend are at the moment ?. My Oregon is adamant that it is going to rain despite there being not a cloud in the sky !. It's been like that for the past 2 days.

They use an algorithm that takes into account the pressure tendancy over a few hours. With a high nearby, any movement in its position will lead to a fall in pressure at the station, which is taken as a possible precursor to less stable weather. As far as I know, these forecasts are around 70% accurate, and are valid up to 12-24hrs out.

As with all automatic forecasts though, it's best not to trust them too much, and always go with the official met one instead.
