Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    ****ing awful

Shocking stuff, Baines completely exposed, Walcott should switch to 100m running, and the pitch is APPALLING and Carrick is of course rubbish.

Should set us up for a better 2nd half at least.

What was the story with the confusion on ITV? The commentators said in a surprised voice after about 30s "oh he's given it". Did somethign happen that I didnt see at the time or in the replays? It was a perfectly good goal as far as the rules are concerned. Poor from England pov though.

He will go, but only as cover to Cole. TBF he probably won't get a game anyway unless Cole get's injured/suspended.

English media are just getting into world cup mode is all.

"So far so good" is what the commentary was saying just before the break.

If I was an England fan I would seriously nervous. This is a team at home with World Cup title aspirations.

If not for an offside+handball goal from Crouch, England would be drawing 1-1, and would be lucky with that. Robert Green is looking good, but the very fact he has been given the opportunity to look good suggests England are letting Mexico in for a few opportunites which is indeed the case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Green has been outstanding in what he's had to do; though he was very stationary for the goal and Salcido's shot that hit the post.

    King has been outstanding.

Rio's looked very suspect on his positioning, and got outdone for pace surprisingly.

Baines has been dodgy, even before that corner.

Johnson has been ok, bar a couple of bits of bad positioning.

poor aul' Milner. the role he's playing just isn't his.

Carrick's done ok from about the 20th minute.

Crouch has done what's asked of him.

Walcott has been threatening, but he just doesn't have the brain for this level of football.

Rooney's had nothing to play with.

Gerrard has been completely anonymous; as if we needed any more proof that he's not himself at all.

    that's my assessment so far.

Meh, it's a friendly before the world cup. For the most part the lads going to the world cup know who they are and are not goign to risk injuring themsleves.

Jesus, this isn't Liechtenstein they're playing. Mexico are a very decent side! England are still testing players in a new formation. England were by far the best team in European qualifying.

Christ almighty, talk about an overreaction!

Southgate talking about Mexico and seems to think they're a continental side. Though I suppose he didn't say which continent.

That half really raised more questions than answers. If Carrick makes the 23 I'd be amazed. Mexico could have had 3 easily and let's face it they're a team of bench dwellers for their respective clubs.

If there's a worse player than Rafa Marquez going to the world cup I'd like to see him!

Has there been anything positive at all from an English point of view? Maybe Green, but apart from that I'd be clutching at straws to find anything to be pleased about

Fair point. But they've been sloppy. I wouldn't expect them to be in 5th gear, but in 3rd gear which they seem to be, but it's not clinical enough for me.

ha, Southgate slagging the man-marking system.

    good man Gaz.

Apologies for giving my 2 cents for the first half. England were very good throughout qualifying, which is why I would expect a more clinical performance a fortnight before the World Cup.

England to exit the WC on penalties, pile on now.

They'll have an off day in one of the knock-out games, hang on for penalties and...

The amount of empty seats at the far side of Wembley is absolutely shocking.

That wouldn't be where the soldiers are by any chance? Though it looks to be a lot more than 1,000 seats.

    Gee?

Gee isn't in the English vocab, it's an Irish-English word.

    It means "Little Pea"

    Which is just as funny

Erm....and cup finals and cup semi finals and full internationals.

those tards coming back into their seats 3/4 minutes late is almost as shocking to me.

That's who I was talking about.

And they probably pay extra for them seats because they are opposite the TV cameras.

Anyone who goes to a football match and isn't back to watch for the start of the second half should be turfed out. Same for people who leave early, they shouldn't be allowed back in ever again.

    Clowns.

Are those seats ''executive'' seats? Where all the suits sit?

the English midfield has stepped its game up this half.

it'll be interesting to see how Huddlestone does.

    i think he's potentially a smashing player.
