Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

AutoCAD documents & OCR in Adobe Acrobat

    Howdy,

I'm looking to run the OCR process in Acrobat to read text on a couple of thousand files which are now PDF (converted by someone else in the past - don't have the original .DWGs). The problem is that the PDF is set at below 72 dpi, so the OCR won't work.

I've had a few looks online as to what I could do, like converting the files to TIF and back again to PDF but it didn't work out. Anyone have any ideas?

Windows indexing tool should already pick up on OCR in PDF files.

One thing I've learned about OCR though is its far from intelligent and frankly there may not be anything you can really do to clean it up.

So I presume that the pdfs are already rasterised?

    Can you post a sample?

Yep. Can't unfortunately - work related.

Found a solution by optimizing but it degrades the PDF to the extent that some of the smaller text is unreadable. Which would be helpful as the end game is to find documents (using Google Desktop or Windows Seach, ty Overheal) so the title blocks of the CAD PDF would come up, but it would confuse things somewhat by degrading the PDFs.
