Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys.

Need some suspension work done on my S40 and finding my local Volvo dealer here in Limerick very poor for calling me back with prices for the work and my local mechanic is reluctant to touch it as he is unfamiliar with Volvos.

So looking for a good Volvo indy in the Limerick region.

You don't need one Bazz. Your S40 isn't a particularly complicated car suspension wise.

Any competant mechanic can put it right imho. What's the issue?

How the f does he become familiar with any car if he won't work on them?

As stated any "MECHANIC" worth his salt will do the work no problem.

Henry, worn front left and right lower control arm bushings need to be replaced plus a broken breather pipe needs to be replaced also.

I thought it was straight forward too, being a bloody Focus but my local guy doesn't want to touch it. I got a price from the main dealer alright when the car was serviced earlier in the month but asked them if they could do it a bit cheaper as I gave them a nice bit of business over the last month or two, so far it is murder trying to get them to ring me back with an improved price, really is poor customer service but that is another story. Just want the work done asap before I'm replacing more tyres due to uneven wear.

Sounds pretty straightforward tbh. Bushes can be a bit of a pain to press in and out, but it can be done.

You could replace a breather pipe yourself I reckon.

    .

Bazz26--Its usually cheaper to replace the wishbones themselves and if you take the part number off the ol wishbone you`ll find that theres could be a fair difference in the price if it has a Ford part number on it versus the volvo price.

We ONLY fit wishbones since its a nightmare to press the bushes in and out of the old ones and we`ve had a few back even after replacing bushes only.
The breather pipe is probably a simple job.

Thanks Hellrazer, do you know if the wishbones come with the bushings already fitted or are they seperate?
