Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I initially asked this question on Accountancy but was suggested to ask it here

my company pays for my evening courses from my bonus
for me it is obviously interesting as it is before taxes
I would like to know if it is actually beneficial for the company as well?
i.e. is there any difference from taxing oint of view between paying employees bonus/salary and paying for his/her study?

thanks in advance for your help

The company will save on the employers prsi of between 8.5 and 10.75%

Then again it is debatable whether you should get it tax free since it is has been disallowed in some UK cases. I know alot of Irish companies do it alright though but it may be scrutinised in the Irish courts before long

I'm not complaining though...I get it too!

Your employer is probably taking a deduction for this under employee training.

As it is deducted from your bonus it is debatable whether they should be liable to take this deduction. As it stands this is hypothetical as I don't know if they are acutually claiming the deduction. If it is taken from your bonus then it is a taxable emolument as your salary is reduced by it.
