Recessed Gas Box + Supply

Can I fit a recessed gas box before bord gais come to connect the supply, or do you just leave the hole in the wall and let them insert the box? It says on the box "do not puncture in any way", so how do they fit the meter within in?

You have to install the gasbox, the gas enters and exits from the bottom (on the outside), they will cut in for the entry and the gas installer will do likewise for connecting into your boiler. Thats how it happened with me.
