Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What's the point? Sure they'll never beat the Garda.

Nice pictures, though. Particularly fond of the fourth shot. Love the sense of speed and the three guys side-by-side, but slightly ahead of each other.:)

    Great work.

Nice ones. I like the 'panning' shots, of the cyclists side on.

What did you shoot with? Body, lens, shutter speed etc?

    That made me chuckle

Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT (350D), Cannon 100-400mm L IS lens at about 170mm, F7.1, Shutter speed at 1/500 ISO 200 for most of them. The side on shots were at 1/250 with focal length of 100mm.

A few (from roundabout by N17 road).
You really do only get one chance, they're 'gone in (less than) 60 seconds'

Nice shots, which lens did you use in the end?

Used the 55-300, a few shots when they passed were too close. It was handy for them coming up the hill. (btw I'm getting the 18-250 Tamron)
I stood in the roundabout, wasn't the best position. But with some cropping etc I got some I'm happy with.
a few aren't very sharp though. It's fun though to go along and scope out spots and getting ready, taking test shots etc.
My panning were at 1/30th, too slow.
Next time I'd try to get somewhere with a simple background (hedges etc).
It'd be great if they were doing a few circuits and you could try out a lot of styles etc.

    Here's a few more:

That one is a great panning shot.

That one is a great panning shot.

The only thing that detracts from the image is that there's another cyclist with chopped off limbs and a bike cropped in half too. Images should be clear and not contain any loose limbs etc.

I know but there was a police car behind him so it had to go.
The first few pictures I'm happy with, the latter few have issues- slight blur, chopped people etc. but I said I'll throw them up anyway.

Like that first one in your second set Dinneenp, great sense of distance as they string out down the road.
