How about a hot air ballon flight. It takes off from the porchfields beside the river Boyne in Trim.

Before hand you could take a tour of the biggest Norman Castle in Ireland

If they arrive early on sat you could take a punt on the horses

I wouldnt try the balloons if its only a short visit, a lot depends on how the weather is if they'll go up or not. Can be postponed.

There's always Newgrange and the Hill of Tara.

I second Newgrange. Trim Castle is also worth a visit.

would anyone have any info on fishing on the Boyne?

The Newgrange visitor centre is open all year round. The monument itself isn't open during winter. There's three megalithic monuments in the region. Knowth, Dowth and Newgrange.

Clarkes sports den in Navan town is the place to ask about fishing I think.

Hi there, I would agree with all the above posts, I would also throw in for evening entertainment the Trad night in Brogans hotel Trim Sunday night from about 9pm, great musicans, you dont have to drink alcohol, it being Sunday night a lot of people dont drink cause they have work the following morning. Call in earlier than 9pm they do great bar food also. :)

Nearly all fishing rights on the Boyne would be held by angling clubs, no membership means no fishing I'm afraid. On the other side membership would not be too expensive either and you can fish all season.
