Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Manfrotto 141RC head/Plate

    Hi,

    I have a Manfrotto 141RC head and recently have noticed that with the camera (Sony Alpha 550) fitted even with a short/light lens there is a noticeable amount of movement when the quick release plate is on the head.

    Can't work out if it's the plate or the receiver, but it's getting a little frustrating when I have the shot lined up if I have made an adjustment (aperture/speed/iso) that when I remove my hand the camera can shift.

    Had anyone had such a problem with the 141RC head/plate? The tripod and head is probably about 12 years old now but in good condition.

    turn the quick release plate around opposite to the way you put it in. I have one and in one direction it gas some rocking but in the other direction nothing

    I had a bit of time last night to look at the head, the problem had nothing to do with the plate orientation, it was down to the locking mechanism. At the rear of the head where the lever to release the plate there is an allen screw holding the locking mechanism - this is spring loaded. The problem was really simple to resolve, the darn allen screw had loosened to the point where the spring could not compensate for the looseness, simply tightened the allen screen to put more tension on spring and everything is rocked solid again.

    not bad Dave after 12 years , hope mine stays as good --its a 494rca manfrotto ballhead just got it to-day.:
