Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dosing/Injecting before TB Testing

    Hi,

I was going to treat bullocks this weekend with injection Normectin or similar wide ranging medicine for internal/external parasites.

Just got letter from the department saying TB test to be done before 9th July.

If I inject at the weekend is there any possibility that it can affect the result of the TB test leading to reactors and if so how long in advance of the test would you have to inject so it wouldnt affect results of the test?

Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated thanks

Never heard of this to be honest.
The only thing to watch is local swelling from your injections. The vet might confuse these with swelling from the TB injection. May be better to inject under the skin back along the rib cage.

Just as long as you don't inject in the neck on the outsde of the crush (we're the vet will inject)side there will be no reaction ifyou want to inject in the neck inject on the inside of the crush were the vet wont be putting their hand!
And dosing them down the neck of putting pour on will have absolutely no impact on the measurement on the second day of reading!

I never inject in the neck - why risk it? They might be TB tested on the other side the next time.

always inject/dose on day of test
inject behind shoulder or inside of crush. vet always uses outside.
crush is like a wasps nest for the day. only delays vet maybe an hour in the day maybe less. he dosent mind as we have the test routine down fairly well at this stage.

Dont inject or dose on the day of the test it slows down testing and drives the vet bananas...there is plenty more days in the year to get them all dosed and injected...the 2nd day would be the best day when the vet is gone if you want to badly do them.

just watch withdrawl times on any drugs you give, as if u go down in test animals cant be removed till time is up and therefore u will be locked up even longer
