Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mazda 2 or 3 vs Citroen 3 0r 4

Am planning to buy a new car, availing of the scrappage scheme as I have a 10 yr old car. Currently have narrowed down to the above, the budget could stretch to the higher price but am trying to weigh up options. I would be using the car for city driving predominately, solo driver, with occasional motorway driving down the country so ideally 1.4 engine size or higher.

If anyone has feedback on the above or other suggestions I could consider would appreciate!

Both Mazda 2/3 and the Citroen C3/C4 have some good scrappage offers on them at the moment.

Citroen have just announced enhanced scrappage terms for the New C3 and C4 which means a new C3 would cost €11,900 (incl Gov bonus) whilst a C4 would be €15,900.

Mazda2 starts from €11,435 on scrappage and the Mazda3 is from €17,995.

Citroen C3 is the new model vs Mazda2 so inevitably is slightly more expensive. Mazda2 more sporty, harder ride whilst C3 would be bigger and poss more comfortable. Both have similar power and performance stats but if you are after a diesel than C3 would have more models on offer.

Mazda3 is newer than the C4 so more expensive. If you are after value in terms of equipement and features then you would probably pick up a well equipped C4 for less than a Mazda3.

There is also a new C4 due out early next year:

I'd go for the Mazda as it's a better built car and much more reliable.
