Don't normally post on here but I can't believe that there is not a thread on here already regarding this but Scott Gorham and Brian Downey have booked a gig in the O2 on THE SAME night as the Vibe For Philo. The Rocker's mum Philomena has asked fans NOT to go to the gig in the O2 but to support the Vibe which will be in its 25th year.

I can't believe that former bandmates would do this to his great name, his family and his many legions of fans. Blatant commercialism:mad::mad:

Please spread the word and have a look at the Facebook page:

and have a look at the site for the Vibe:

Heard this earlier on fairly crappy goings on from "Thin Lizzy" ...if the papers get hold of the story I reckon they'll have to change the date or look to accomodate the Vibe For Philo at the o2 n make it one huge Vibe from it!

I haven't been to one of the vibe's in years. Last time was an aftershow upstairs in Slattery's ~1995...Eric Bell was just amazing (and a very humble person). I went to the Point in 2005 with Gary Moore leading the pack and I thought it was awful.

There's a very healthy vibe in Scandinavia too...www.thinlizzyguide.com looks like an old website but the guy who runs it regularly updates it with pictures, release/concert info etc. It's basically encylopedia Lizzy for anyone interested.

Heard this thru Facebook too. Can't believe some of his former bandmates, and supposed "friends" even considered this!!!??

    B******s.

I'm actually quite surprised that the Irish papers have not run with this already. The Mail ran with this story either last week or the week before, giving it a full page interview with Philomena.

All it stinks of is a money making exercise by Gorham and the boys. Booking their gig in Dublin on the same night as the Vibe For Philo? Very poor form and smacks of them being parasites.

Going by the interview in the paper it seems they were asked to play on the night after the Vibe and refused.

Well I was never going to go see this pretend Thin Lizzy anyway , but this is just very poor form.

It doesn't make sense either ... the rest of their Jan 2011 Tour dates are UK venues of 3000-5000 capacities , yet they're optimistically booked in for the O2 in Dublin (12000 or so ...) ???? ... this had lead me to believe it was part of the Vibe for Philo but taken to a bigger scale due to the 25th Anniversary and would include special guests etc ....

    Who's promoting it?

It was never a part of the vibe for Philo. Seems they were offered a role in the Vibe For Philo and knocked it back.

The only reason they have booked the O2, which is so much bigger than any other venue on their tour, is because they have booked it on the same day that the Vibe is on, so I would assume their thinking is that given the Vibe is on, and given that it will be the 25th anniversary of Phil's death, that they will pull in thousands of extra people and line their own pockets.

Tacky and mercenary is all it is by Gorham and co.

Agreed ... maybe it'll backfire on them ..... but then again it'll depend on who they'll line up as "special guests" ...

The gig isn't listed on Ticketmaster??

    http://www.thinlizzy.org/home.html

Neither is it listed on the "official" Lizzy website??

In this month's Classic Rock there is an interview with this version of "Thin Lizzy" and at the end of the interview there is a snippet saying they are playing in Dublin on January 4th, and they have the neck to list it as being "at a celebration show for the late Phil Lynott on the 25th anniversary of his passing"

According to Gorham in the Classic Rock interview it is not part of their official tour.

The official TL website is very slow to be updated at the best of times.

I had initially thought it was part of the Vibe too......I'm not sure about it at all.......but it's certainly a decent line up in the band......
The O2 has a capacity of 14k - but that's not necessarily what it would be set up for.......

They should have the decency to move it to another date.
