A discussion about jamming with laptops was brought up in the dance forum.

I posted it there and it'd probably be of interest to some of you lads here; namely the software MidiQuest 10.

Basically it allows you to act as if your hardware is a drop-in plug-in with a fully accessible GUI, even for the 2 line LCD, four knob rack synths of yore. Couldn't be more suitable for macro/arrangement control when you've a few people belting out **** and allows you to use Ableton in lieu of a proper mixer.

It's got fully designed GUI's and implementation for 650 instruments including all the usual suspects. $250

No MIDI on most of the MOOG stuff to be fair. Voyager Rack and Little Phatty are the only two that I can think of off the top of my head, and I think the main point of the software is to up the usability of the stuff without much hands-on control/lots of menu diving, like old rack and FM synths.

For vintage analog stuff, Volto is the nearest equivalent VST for CV voltage control in-DAW

DSI stuff has its own specialised GUI software AFAIK. I'm guessing its a little new as well.

only works with motu or dc-coupled interfaces i think.

with a bit of soldering, you can use this to send CV from any sound card...
