Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Discovered this by accident yesterday! Does anyone know when they started doing this? I remember months ago they used to carry something like "2FM Popular Music Service of RTE" and would also mention the time.

They've been doing it at least 2 months anyway, that's when I first noticed it.

Really? Must check the car in the morning.

I thought this was illegal in this country i.e. too much of a distraction???

2fm are displaying song titles for at least 8 months.

It's not illegal, they are displaying the titles using the RT (Radio Text) function of the radio. Most car radios don't have a RT function.

It is illegal to display anything other than the station name for the PS (Programme Service) name. It can't be dynamic or scrolling either. Static and maximum of 8 characters allowed.

PS is basically the part that all RDS radios can display and shows the station name. RT is not available on all radios and on very few car radios.

    Hi all,
We started doing this earlier in the year as part of an addition to what we offer on FM RDS. This was done as part of a new media project whereby anyone with an apple nano (the ones with the FM radio) can now tag the track playing on 2FM then when they re-dock with iTunes a list of all tagged tracks appears.
We also intend to roll this out for RTE Lyric FM.

    Its called Radiotext plus.

    Spot on.

This facillity, RT+, is built in to Pira RDS which reads tacks from the Zara radio "now playing" dynamic text file and displays RT nicely.
