If someone who is a stupid thicko, as you put it, has the dedication and self-discipline to get a PHD, despite their shortcomings, then maybe your opinion of them should change?

Look before you leap mate! How can you possible know of the context I speak. The individuals I refer to have a very high opinion of themselves, yet have no communication skills, social skills, or possess any stimulating conversation outside of the subject matter they've studied. Regarding discipline and dedication, I wouldn't give them too much kudos on that considering 'Mummy' and 'Daddy' decide their life path early on. One of my best mates has 5 passes in his leaving cert, a very successful business and is in my opinion a genius. He couldn't afford the luxury of third level education, he had to get out into the world and survive. Does that make thing a bit clearer for you now?

new this ban gaurda through sad text messages I was getting then got to know her personnel and yes changed my opinion on her cause she turned out to be really nice helped me in lots of things ( ie kids club in area ) and I would consider her a friend now. I put a label on ever one I met and to total honest with myself it was usual wrong so I have stopped doing it now. got to know the person then made my call ( and yes have gone weirdo .. say away ..LOL )

I met a girl in a nightclub one night, and we ended up going back to her place. She went into the kitchen to get us drinks, and I went into the living room to wait for her. I realised she was a ban-guard when I saw a picture of her in her uniform hanging on the living room wall!!

I had a wrap of MDMA in my pocket, and had been just about to offer her some, thank Christ I didn't!!

She came back into the room with the drinks, I told her I was going to the toilet and did a runner out the front door......

Learning her profession definitely changed my view........

What? You passed up an opportunity for sex... why?

Well you can get a Ph.D in the most retarded fields nowadays, however, that said Ph.D's are in the top 5% intellectually (in general) but their probably not as knowledgeable on the practical aspects of life especially if they have been in academia so long.

This PC bull really annoys me. Of course my opinion of someone will take into account their profession or education, considering it's generally a large part of someone's life.

If someone tells me they're a doctor or a lawyer or have a PhD, then yes, I'm going to be damn impressed at their intelligence, diligence and perseverance (which all three require). Am I going to necessarily like them? Of course not, I've met some seriously d*ckhead lawyers. But will I admire their achievements? Yes, yes I will.

Not necessarily there profession, though if they show too much ambition and ego because of what there job is I'm outta there. Some people Live to work, others work to Live, I'd safely say I fall in to the work to live category.

That's one advantage the American system has over ours. You may come out of an American University with a theoretically less intense and specifically knowledgeable qualification than here, but you'll be able to write in grammatically correct English on the internet, darn it! (English major grammar nazis rule the internet and they will put your commas in place!)
