Looking for a religious/conspiracy book

Something like Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons...

A friend read an article which suggested that Jesus didnt die on the cross and that he lived and died in France and that his remains were buried under a tiny church in the middle of the Pyrennies..

Im looking to read up on such stories out of curiosity, can anyone recommend anything?

Philip Pullman: The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ

which is a story about how myth can come into being.

Another Pullman series which is very good but may not quite fit your criteria is His Dark Materials
