It was the church that I recognised, 'cos there's a reasonably memorable shot when the team go in and find the old man, and the church is in the background.

Given its similarity to a shot in the original (which I know it isn't) I think 7 (the silhouette at the front door) might be the Coen Brothers remake of The Ladykillers.

My immediate reaction to the John Wayne image was The Flying Leathernecks, but what he's wearing is all wrong, so it must be The High and the Mighty, which is the only other one I can think of.

No. 9 is "Reach For the Sky". I got it because I recognised Kenneth More and it's one of his most famous films. I then checked the photo again and you can see he's on crutches. Reach For The Sky is "The true story of airman Douglas Bader who overcame the loss of both legs in a 1931 flying accident to become a successful fighter pilot and wing leader during World War II."
