for starters you need decent sized wings, cut and separated at the joints, or even better, chicken oyster thighs with the bone removed and cut into 3 strips with the skin on for proper boneless 'wings' without them being dry and boring like breast meat as thigh meat and wing meat are almost identical in texture and flavour.

then 1/3 cornflour and 2/3 plain flour in a bowl with any herbs and spices you might like, but a teaspoon of pepper or smoked paprika works well imho. dust your wings/thighs and leave for an hour on a covered tray in the fridge.

now into a deep fat fryer on high until golden brown and whilst they're cooking, drop equal parts of butter and franks original hot sauce into a pan big enough to toss the wings/thighs in afterwards.

personally i use a wok as it's handy for getting the wings coated easily with the sauce.

once that's cooked out to the point where the butter starts to separate and some of the vinegary flavour has come off the franks, throw in your wings and toss to evenly coat before serving with a nice blue cheese or roasted garlic dip.

I always cook the franks on its own for a few minutes then take it off the heat and melt in the butter. It doesn't seperate at all that way.

i do it that way on purpose, i find that it helps it all stick to the chicken and doesn't adversely affect the flavour.

Was tempted to go for them but had the spiced orange ones last night. They were nice but bit too sweet. Don't think I'd go for them again tried some of the others buffalo and bbq and they were solid.

    Will def go back.

Wishbone, I bet it wont last. Third restaurant there in the last year ago, after that ridiculous Porn Dog place, lol. Do people not do any research or something when it comes to opening obscure restaurants?
Anyway, I give it 6 months max.

Why won't it last? I've been there, wings are pretty nice.

going on their first couple of weeks i'd say it would last. It was very busy when I was there and they've posted previously about having to close early due to running out of supplies.

Seems theres a demand for wings in Ireland!

    Massive novelty factor in fairness.
It's probably somewhere many will go, but how will repeat custom fair out?
It's a risky business putting all your 'wings' in one basket so to speak.
If they do well out of other offerings, they should be fine.

Was there about a week after opening at lunch, got the only non booked table. The place was absolutely jam packed. I got the buffalo wings, the missus got tenders. The food was decent, but I do feel they charge a bit too much for what you get. I'd go back again if I was with someone who really wanted too, bit otherwise I wouldn't be too bothered.

Was in blue bar in skerries last week, and I can highly recommend the wings there. Top notch in my opinion, also it's a lovely spot too.

Looking at their website, is it really 12 for 6 wings?

I do agree it's a bit pricey. Think a bottle of heineken, chips and wings set me back 18 euro-ish

I'm saying it wont last because these novelty joints never last, like the hot dog place there before it. This "dirty food" fad will pass sooner or later. I would assume the people who open these joints know that it's fleeting and maybe they expect to make a few quid and then pack up and move on to something new? Can you really see a chicken wings joint there in 10 years time? Or in 2 years time?

I had great wings delivered from Camile in Blanchardstown!

It's nice getting them out, but the best wings are the ones you make yourself.
Dirt cheap and you can make as much as you like :D

There's a huge thread in the food forum about the best sauces to use.
You can make them every bit as good as your favourite restaurant for next to nothing.

Problem with wings is the crazy amount of calories in them, especially when they're often tossed in butter afterwards!

I don't see the problem with this.

If I'm eating a burger/chips/pizza/wings I'm not eating it because I'm particularly worried about the calories.
