Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Continental Sport Contact Puncture Warranty

I bought some Continental Sport Contact tyres last August from Chain Reaction Cycles that came with a free inner tube and a warranty that says "in the event of tyre failure which leads to air loss, the defective tyre and inner tube will be replaced". Well today I had a "air loss", a 5cm shard of metal was to blame, so I'm about to test the warranty.

Anyone know if I have to return the tube and tyre to CRC or can I bring them to any Continental dealer?

The tyre did not fail - it was punctured! There appears nothing to suggest it is "defective"

I suggest you read the small print, but would be staggered if they replace a tyre and/or tube that has been punctured by a shard of metal

Its laid out quite simply here
In the event that a foreign object punctures or cuts into your tyre despite our Safety System breakdown protection, we'll replace the tube and the tyre at absolutely no cost to you!.

    Fair enough

It seems clear to me from that link that you need to "swap" the tyre/tube. It's not so clear if you have to do it via the original dealer. If in doubt give CRC a call (or drop them an e-mail). Alternatively there is a "contact us" section on the Conti website

    Hence my original question earlier.

@Quenching ... interested in knowing the result myself. Had a puncture myself, but never bothered to find out. But regardless, the tyres are good, if somewhat heavy ... do not feel that slow and have got good mileage out of mine so far with just 1 puncture on the rear ... and it was a glass shard which nothing would have stopped.
