Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't agree at all although I'm obviously biased.
For starters Im actually delighted with the talent were bringing this time - especially in midfield. I can only assume you never saw Marin, Özil or Kroos and base your opininon like most people on 'ah well if they were any good sure Eamon would have told us about them'.
Also did you see our side of the draw? There's nothing really that would make me shake in my boots before the semis tbh. That's not saying we couldn't just as easily not reach the semis - but we could just as easily do.
Why are you biased - are you German?

Oh, I know those particular players are very talented - that's not in doubt. And it's refereshing to see so many young attacking midfielders included in a Germany team. But experience is key in the knockout stages and Germany lack a lot of that in their midfield. Schweinsteiger will be an important player in that respect obviously.

Still if all goes according to seedings in the group stages, then Germany may well get a kind draw against USA or Slovenia in the last 16, and then the prospect of a quarter-final against a dodgy France / Argentina.

    1) Yes

    2) I see your point but after a lengthy spell of going to world cups with dull, old and uninspiring squads I prefer it this way. Ideally you want a mixture of both which would have been the case with Ballack in there bur it wasn't to be. I'm pretty sure Löw thought about Hitzlsberger too but decided to stick with his young talents.

    3) when I filled out my WC prediction sheet I came up with England in the last 16 and Mexico in the quarters. No easy peasy stuff but both very makeable, too
