What does E(C) mean?

So I got this E(C) grade which I suppose means I failed a module but I still got 60/60 credits this year. This is confusing. Did I really fail the module?

You failed the module by getting less than 40% in it, but you passed it by compensation with the results of your other modules. Short story is you've passed the year and you don't have to do any repeats, it's done and dusted.

Yeah its passed. You get a gpa of 1.6 for it.
