Basically, I got a System, it's years old but the speakers are animals! Daewoo AMI-917 1400W.

    I want a new "central part" (Reciever/Amp) not great with names/knowhow. :(
It must be CD & iPod compatible and be able to control the S/W+

Can I buy a new "central part" that controls the Sub Woofer power, without buying a whole system?

    Hi SeanKev.

I have tried to get some info on this system, so this is where I am going to need you to help me !!!

Do the speakers just connect to the back of the system using bare wire ?

When you say subwoofer, is there a separate subwoofer speaker to the 2 speakers on show ?

Do you know the impedance of the speakers ? There should be an Ohm rating on the system or on the speakers.

There are lots of systems that may fit the bill, but if you can throw some light my direction, I'll recommend a few that you could look at.

    Hopefully these pictures help!

They aren't separate. 2 cases, left & right. (3rd pic)
Speaker impedance is High: 8 Ohms | Low: 8 Ohms

On the Speakers it says: Super Woofer HQ BI-AMP

On the central part it says: BI-AMP 4 Channel Output Power & SWS Super Woofer Sound System

    Hi SeanKev.

    Sorry for the delay.

Looking at the picture of the rear of the speaker their only two wires coming for them. This would allow you to connect these up to a normal amp and run them as two speakers. You would not be able to control the Sub level on these seperately as it sub must be wired (Passively) through the speakers internally?? Although on the workings of this I'm not sure.

You could run these speakers on the Denon DM37 priced at £169.95 / 199.99 Euro

Is it a Mini System like the above you are looking for or a seperate HiFi setup?

    Cambridge Topaz AM1 priced at £79.95 / 94.99 Euro

    Cambridge Topaz CD5 Priced at £139.95 / 164.99 Euro

To these two items you could connect your iPod via a 3.5mm jack to two Phono priced at £9.99 / 11.99 euro

Or via an iPod dock. There is a lot of choice for IPod docks.

I hope this helps a little further :)
