Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering what people think of the following 3 maxi scooters
Thinking of upgrading from 50cc to one of these

    Yamaha Tmax 500
    Honda Silverwing 600
    Suzuki Burgman / AN650

Think the Tmax looks the best, but how is it for reliability, running cost etc?

I know feck all about these, but what I can tell you is that the Burgman seems to be by far the most popular of the three.

Not much to go on but I read a review in a biker magazine that the TMAX had the edge over the Burgman. Seemingly as regards acceleration/power. I dont know about the Silverwing.

I hope to shopping for one of those sometime soon, too, and I have it down to the Burgman or the T-Max.

Atmo, I'm opting for the T-Max, for reasons of compact-ness, although I've yet to ride either.

I think both are good, and it might be as little as price that swings it.

My thinking is for pure commute, cut & thrust traffic management, probably sporty behaviour, I'm thinking T-Max. For a one-bike-does-all-job, including runs to the continent, I'd be plumping for Burgman.

I think you'll find all reliable, but probably not as economical on juice as you think: they are all big and heavy.

Still a frickin' good idea, though.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Gotta be honest with you. Them scooters are more like tourers with their 500/600cc engines. If you are looking for a commute then a 125cc Scooter is what you should be after. Some of the 125 scooters can easily hit 120km/h which is perfect for city, dual carraigeway and motorway commutes. I would only go for a larger scooter if considering long distances. Mopeds are just not cut out for dual carraigeway use unless the restrictors are out perhaps. Actually even with restrictors out mopeds wouldnt keep up on dual carriageways.

Ah...I should have said - I already have a 500cc scooter.......I'm just looking for a bit 'more'......as they say!.......125's certainly ain't on the list ! And the 500 does traffic fantastically.....

    Here's the 500 I already have.......

Your next bike should be a Duville, then a Pan, then a Goldwing. :D

Actually - just get a Pan.

Gilera GP800 is the fastest scooter I know of. Massive 800cc engine.

Also heard there was suppose to be an 800cc BMW scooter on the way.

...oops, getting embarassing: already have a tourer, had R1150RT's for years, now something else.......oh, going back a bit, still have a 125 as well..... :o

Like the idea of the GP800, and the Mana, but the Italian Engine Experience is taking it's toll........... :(

Have looked at the T-max prices! There pretty steep!

May come back to a 250cc machine, the Majesty, X-Max Burgman all
    in and around 250cc!
What are peoples experiences of these? Really like the look of the X-Max, it has larger wheels too, would be better out on the open road?!
    Although there quite pricey too.

I bought the Aprilia specifically because the Burgman, Honda and Yamaha were so expensive........there was over a 4k difference in price at the time - way too much. So I bought an ex-demo from the UK, which saved another couple of grand.

Mind you, all Yamaha's have gone way, way up in the last 12month's...I think you'll find all Japanese bike prices will climb for the foreseeable future, tbh, due to currency issues.

If a used T-Max is out of the question, I'd seriously consider the X-Max 250 - had a sit on one a while and thought it very nice.
