So myself and the girlfriend are going to see Rage Against the Machine next week and i'm just wondering is there usually a pit area at the front? i ask because the girlfriend is only 5 foot 4 she'll either get stood one or won't see a thing. I'm thinking if there is a pit and we get in she can stand at the back near the barrier and not feel so squashed. Anyone know?

AFAIK, The O2 doesn't do pits like the old Point did. However, there's plenty of standing room all around the ground floor. The one time I went there, the venue wasn't sold out but the ground floor area was and there was plenty of room to move around. I'm sure you'd be able to find a good spot if there isn't a pit. I'm hoping there isn't because I hated how they did a pit area in the old Point. Unless you queued up for hours beforehand, you were relegated to the back like a bunch of cattle.

A vertically challenged friend who goes to O2 gigs with us finds the best views in the standing area are just to the left or right of the stage(especially left)..lots of room to move around and great view of the stage and still very close to the action..def dont stand at the back trying to see over peoples heads..she tried that before and ended up hitting the bar in frustration:p,move to the sides and a great view and night will be had:)

sometimes there's a pit, sometimes there's not. I would say for a gig like RATM there most definitly will be a pit, but obviously that's not guaranteed

Yeah off to the side isn't a bad idea we done the same for Snow Patrol in Belfast. Just a case of who do you wanna watch more of, Tim or Tom!
