Should have my SIM tomorrow I hope.
Will then go about switch over from Meteor, shall I ring them up to get it done?
Or use the online form, which they say takes 24 hours, compared to their 2 hour estimation whilst on the phone.

    Doocey.

Ok. Well every time I top up with 20 I get an extra 2 for the free 10% and 5e that comes up on my3 as free credit. When I joined I was told I'd get 5 a month for 10 months if I topped up with 20e.
I'm fairly sure it's true. For my account it certainly is.

it doesn't matter as it is still incorrect to say that technically the add-on is free - you can spend the €5 you are getting on anything be it calls, texts, data, songs etc. The problem with the way you are looking at it is that after the 10 months are up - "it's not free" so you can't really look at it that way.

The Add-On costs €5 and is not free. But it represents great value for prepay users for 500mb of data for a month.

I'd ask 3 to clarify that in writing!. Their terms and conditions say:
    * €5 credit applied when you bring your number to 3, €5 credit when you register your details with My3. That's it!, nothing there about €10 per month...

Will head into town and pick one up so.
So, I'm basically asking for a new sim, and to switch to 3 from Meteor.
Anyone know how long it takes to port me number in store?

Should be done in an hour or 2, you'll be about 5-10 minutes in store get them to copy your contacts from your meteor sim to the new 3 one, have you a 3G capable phone that's unlocked?

    **** that reminds me.
Waiting on a phone back from Vodafone which will be unlocked.

Was hoping to get me Three sim & phone sorted before I head off to college on Saturday, but that ain't gonna happen.!

I'll wait for my phone to get back, and I'll go in store to get it all sorted then.

if it's coming back from repair they usually re lock them after the repair.

i cancelled my contract with them today after over three years, the reason being the signal in my area was crap compared to the rest of Dublin&Ireland even though their mast is about 2 km away:eek: from my house.
anyway the tech support just fobbed me off even though i spend on average over 1,000e a year, looks like i will be going back to VF or might try Meteor.

There was a wonderful guy on twitter that works for 3 that got my signal issues sorted, thats a shame :(

Just seen this offer. Its actually really good. I dont use the internet on my phone due to the cost. So not really getting the best out of it. Is there a limit on the amount that you can use the internet?

On the site it says unlimited surfing for 30days but has this * beside it. But then nowhere on the site does it explain the asterisk.

Vodafone have the same offer on except for 30 euro per month.

For general interneting you buy 500mb bundles of data for 5 euro out of your credit. You can queue as many of these up as you want.

    Cheers!

I think its a bit of a joke though to say free unlimited internet usage and then oh wait its not unlimited.

    Still decent though.

How long would 250mb last you on the net? Do you know? Most I would be doing is checking football scores and putting a few bets on. Couple of mins like.

That kind of usage is very little. In truth 250mb is loads for occasional browsing. You can use you mobile internet more extensively to for example read the daily papers etc by downloading Opera Mini to your mobile. It condenses data but it looks exactly like on a PC screen when you zoom in. I use Opera Mini to bookmark websites and pages I use all the time. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning are reading the Times, Indo and Examiner on your mobile lying in bed! :D

It's 500mb and it should last you ages; as I said you can buy as many 500mb bundles as you want.

Allowance has been increased to 500mb

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Vurnon San Benito

500mb for 30 days is plenty, unless you're forever watching high quality porn on a flash enabled phone :pac:

Got my unlocked Nokia E63 back.

As I've moved to college in Galway now, should I just call into a 3 store to get switched over?

Also, according to the coverage map, it's predominately 2G coverage around my area where I'll be staying (Headford RD) however the Mobile Broadband is dark blue, signalling a good reception.

Regards the 2G Voice & text, what can I expect?

So, I said I'd keep ya updated :)

Arrived home from college, to be greeted by my new 3PAY SIM which arrived on Wednesday, so not bad postage time at all.

Rang up customer service, asked them to port my number over, did all the security jazz and they said that it will usually take a couple of hours for it to be finalized.

Saying that, it'll probably take a good day or two, but the customer service rep, who was very helpful may I add, said that it's usually a lot quicker when you're PAYG rather than a bill-pay customer.

Just waiting for some message/call to come to my 3PAY Sim and I'll be all set.

    Will keep ye updated :)

If your mobile broadband is flashing blue then that means you wil have 3G signal from 3 2G is grand for calls and texts
