Li-ion battery question

hi im a camera newbie

im looking to buy an extra battery for my panasonic lumix DMCTZ5 camera...

-3.7v 970mAh (Min) 3.6Wh Li-ion

...on amazon the original panasonic batteries are way more expensive than the generic ones. im gravitating towards just buying the panasonic one even though its more expensive coz i figure it will probably give me less hassle, keep its charge longer with each charge and have a longer total life. so is it worth getting the more expensive one do ye think?

You have three options:

1. Original Panasonic battery

2. Replacement battery with a well known brand like Duracell or Hahnel

3. Generic replacement from eBay, Amazon etc.

Only buy from someone with thousands of sales and a very high positive
FB rating. Read through the FB to see if other buyers are happy with the
quality of the batteries. I have found this seller is reliable and his Canon
replacement batteries are just as good as the original ones:

i can only say from my experience, but i have found the cheaper generic li-ion batteries to hold their charge for much much longer than the branded ones. just if you do buy from e-bay make sure you check their feedback, as others have said.

i think i managed to take everyones advice on board. ordered a cheapo battery from someone with very high approval ratings with free postage (the seller from that link i think, thanks a mill for pointing in that direction by the way). just over €6 in total so cant go wrong.
