Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok cool. I can see a circle starting to form.

You are wrong about Bradley however so we'll leave it at that as they say and let the judging happen at the appropriate time.
I'm not wrong though, I've seen him enough to know he is worst pick made to this point.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you have a whole host of reasons for sayin that he is the worst pick so far and are merely saving them to launch a full scale attack at the end. You have watched him extensively afterall.

Citing one half against Slovenia and a tendency to attract yellow cards won't suffice btw.

    I look forward to it.

God dammit Necro, I curse you.

I was convinced no-one would go for Marchena and I'd get him as my Round 11 pick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

He was my next round option to partner Lucio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

    Sorry guys :)

I won't post my formation yet because I've not fully decided where a couple of players will play.

Indeed, it's getting me excited about my impending next pick.

If the lad I want goes before that I'll be pretty pissed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

I'll have my pick up soon, I'm caught between two players atm...

Just fyi guys, I've updated the spreadsheet again. This time I've added a second sheet for a more simplistic view of proceedings. Anybody with a Gmail account can edit it, so feel free to update as well.

Toughest choice I've had to make so far probably.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Phew. He was one of my options if my main guy goes.

    Three before me....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,793 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

    Picked and PM'd.

Probably my toughest choice yet. I had a couple of choices I would have been happy with but in the end I went with Dempsey for his goals, hard work and versatility.

Kolorov a great shout in my opinion. Was looking for him to shore up my backline. A quality player

we had some real momentum yesterday too.

it looks like it might be late next week before we complete the teams, unless we get a real move on.

in general, it's gone along nicely though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Bradley was absolute quality yesterday for the USA, proved any doubter wrong imo. Real tenacious midfielder, looks a great prospect for the future tbh. Excellent pick Xavi.

Excellent progress, chaps. Flying along now.

Well done, you killed it :pac:

We should get the teams finished by next week. But I'm going on holidays Saturday week, so I may very well miss the actual ties.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,418 ✭✭✭curry-muff

Times up! Feel free to pick Xavi ;)

    Pick made and PM'd!

A quick question about the knockout stages, if I use one formation against one opponent (and beat him/her), can I pick a different formation to counteract my next opponents team or is there a fixed formation throughout the evaluation stages?

We'll revise the rules before the knockout stages to make sure everyone is happy enough to progress.

Ideally, I'll do up a draw to decide who plays who. I'll then post up a schedule of a day by day match. Hopefully get two done per day. Each person makes one post in the thread with their team and then I'll add a poll.

I was gonna pick Melo but he has had an awful season and is yet to really make a mark on any club he's been at. Far too inconsistent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,418 ✭✭✭curry-muff

That put me off a little bit, but he is a different man in Brazil colours, has really impressed me in the games so far, as I said in the post I think the system at Juventus is holding him back, a move to Arsenal or Inter would prove how good he really is ;)

    Ah well, no biggie! :)

Simao in round 9 is pretty sick value if I do say so myself.

    Team Thus Far:

    X

    Baresi (C)
    Carvalho

    Zanetti
    X

    Mascherano

    Park Ji Sung
    Stankovic
    Simao

    Kaka

    Frei

Fabio Coentrao is the next big thing at left back, good pick titan.

Rumours that Real Madrid are sniffing around his name.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭bamboozling

Was sickened when Titan took my pick, but delighted to have snapped up Pedro. Was going for a defender but I couldn't turn down Pedro when I found him.

Subotic is a great pick. One of the best header(ers) of the ball at the World Cup.

Here's my team at the moment.

Nice solid team so far, but is leaving your lead striker and keeper to the last two rounds a bit risky

Looking forward to see who you produce ;)
