problem solved, weird one I cant ping mail1.eircom.net from this pc or any pc on site. But if I use 159.134.198.135 all works ok.

does any know If eircom are having any issues with their DNS again?

The "Relaying denied to domain xxxx" error basically means you are not authorised to use the mail server to send mail to that domain.

Either the mail server is blocking mail to gmail servers or the mail server doesn't recognise you as an authorised user.

Oh, and don't worry about not being able to ping the server...that's normal as icmp traffic would be blocked.

    I have the same problem.
A couple of days ago I started getting bounced mail.
It always has the same error below no matter who I'm emailing.
I haven't changed my settings and have scanned with Norton with no viruses etc. Can anyone help? This is happening both with my eircom.net email address and my other emails on Outlook with Vista.
    My Broadband provider is UPC.

You can't use eircom's mail server to send mail if you're not using an eircom Internet connection, they just don't allow it. Ask Vodafone what their mail server settings are, or check their website.

Don't drag up old threads either.
