Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Infra red photography

Thinking of giving this a go. I have a Yashica Mat medium format camera, and some Ilford SFX film.

I've been Googling some tutorials, and there seems to be conflicting advice as to whether I need a filter or not.

Anyone know? And if so, anyone have any idea what filter I need? Tried to find out myself and it's making my head spin. :)

Get yourself the SFX plastic filter. It's the equivalent to the R72 which this film requires to achieve an infrared effect. The SFX filter is a cheap way to get you started.

Although you're going to have to find some way of jimmying the filter onto the yashica mat. It's a plastic filter so youu could probably cut it to size and fit it into a spare B30 or bay 1 filter or whatever it is precisely that the mat takes.
I've never actually put a roll of IR through mine, despite the fact that it's probably a better bet than an SLR in that you can still focus and compose with the filter in place.

That sounds ideal - it's just for this single roll of film, so don't want to spend much. Any ideas where I can get hold of one?

There was a sort of value pack where you got a few rolls of film plus the filter but I'm not sure if thats still available. I got one years ago from 7dayshop but I don't see it available now.
