Hi, I'm studying Jack today and need some translations:

1. She admires him
2. He is well-spoken

I think my translations are wrong, so I need other opinions.

3. Does anyone know roughly what year or even decade this poem was written? 1930s? 1950s?

4. What does 'aicill' mean as Béarla? Rhyme?

Here are my guesses:
1. Tá meas air aici. Is this the same as admiration though?
2. Dea-labharta.
3. No idea.
4. Rhyming technique?

Those are right!
Aicill rhymes the final stressed word of one line with the next-to-last unstressed word in the next line
For example:
Do bhíoth dhamh ag déanaimh eóil
an gheágsoin fa gar do mhaoin;
fada siar ón tírsi thuaidh
aniar uain do-chínnsi an gcraoibh.

Thanks, zam! Now I just need to find out when the poem was written. All I could find online was My Boy Jack (1915) which wasn't what I was looking for. So...

Haha, thanks. I went there first, but am almost cynical about GT due to bad past experiences. It's still a great resource though!

It's pretty bad:)
