Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Three French Navy sonar tug vessels will be paying a routine visit to Galway this weekend. Galway people will have an opportunity to board the vessels in Galway Harbour during the Galway Powerboat Festival on Saturday 5 June from 2pm to 5pm.

The three ships - the Aldébaran, the Altair and the Antares – will dock in Galway Harbour from Friday 4 to Monday 7 June.

The ships are used to survey access to French Ports during peacetime. They were first launched in 1993 and built in the shipyard Socarenam in Boulogne-sur-Mer in Northern France.

The ships are identical and each one is over 28 metres in length. The ships weigh 250 tons each, can reach speeds of 11 knots and have a maximum range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots. The ships are each armed with a 12.7mm machine gun and crewed by 24 staff, which include petty officers, quartermasters and sailors.
