As you might already know, this year’s Wicklow 200 Cycling Challenge will start from Greystones on the 13th of this month. This non competitive challenge will start from Shoreline Leisure Centre from 6 to 8 am on Sunday and some 2300 cyclist will make their ways through the mountains of Wicklow on either 100km route or 200km route.
You will get extensive information regarding the event on www.wicklow200.ie. This is a fund-raising event organized by the Irish Veteran Cyclists Association.

This event has been running for almost 20 years now, and is hugely popular amongst the cycling community (Sean Kelly is participating every year). The event was traditionally held out of UCD, and for the first year, we have managed to attract them to start out of Greystones, making it a full Wicklow Event. Benefits to the, local economy can be huge, not only on the day of the event, but also during the days leading to the event, as well as tourism potential throughout the year as Wicklow 200 route can be promoted for cyclist visitors.

Preparation for registration and route of the race are fully organized. Nevertheless, the organizing committee are facing a problem they didn’t have last year: car parking. In UCD car parking was widely available around campus. Several parking facilities have been identified throughout the Greystones area, with enough car park to facilitate participants. Participants will be arriving between 6am to 8am on Sunday morning, and several Marshalls are needed to direct people to available spaces.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!. Organizers are missing 20 volunteers to help on Sunday morning (6 to 8), with briefing session on Saturday. Volunteers will obviously be given food and drink and proper visibility attire. CAN YOU HELP?
Do you know anyone that can give a hand and make a difference to the success of this event? Anyone interested please contact Gay Farnan at 087-2579406 or Fred 0404 20070

I'll sticky this until the weekend - can't offer to help though as I'm doing the 100KM event myself.
