Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well they transported Israeli tanks, arty and ammunition to where they needed to be so I'd say it was an airlift rather than just the delivery of supplies.

sorry mate, that's absolutely not what the wiki article - or indeed anything else written on the subject - says.

infact the wiki article specifically says where in Israel the US delivered the kit to, and then notes the efforts the Isreali's then went to in order to get it to where they needed it.

the US moved US kit to a central dispersal point in Israel, and then let the Israeli's get on with moving it to wherever they wanted it to be - this was a delivery operation, perhaps an unusually strident one, but what it wasn't was either tactical airlift or the US becoming militarily engaged in the fighting.

anyway, no, Ireland will make no hard moves over either the 'Free Gaza' convoy, or the 'Rachel Corrie' affair - it has no military capability to either punish the Israeli's, nor to force through a Blackade-busting convoy, and it has no political or economic clout that can have any effect on the Israeli's.

the Irish political class will huff and puff, and write strident articles in the papers, but there will be no Irish consequences for Israel over this whole affair - the Irish political class know it, so do the Israeli's, and so does everyone else.

    Well said.

Just because being anti Israel is the trendy cause at the moment for all the usual anti this or that left wing, activist crowd doesn't mean we're going to do something stupid on their behalf.

In any case the Israelis could care less what people think about them. Their main aim is to survive as they are, surrounded by enemies external and internal who would cheerfully exterminate them if they got a chance will the rest of the world stood around wringing their hands and calling for restraint.

Actually I'm not sure why this thread isn't in the Walter Mitty section because it belongs there. The very notion that we could last five minutes against a country that has been under assault from it's powerful neighbours since it's birth and defeated them in open conflict in days or weeks is truly hilarious.:pac:

There has been great success here in crippling hundreds of thousands of our own. We should not under estimate the greed and stupidity of our leaders both political and banking.

Phase 1: If you want to get your enemy, put them in debt.

We could offer Israels 20 - 40 year old FTB 40 year mortgages in remote areas with bad soundproofing and no storage built one on top of the other with no thought for family facilities into the future.

    Phase 2: Propaganda

Now is the time to buy in Israel ! Suicide if you think it not, well try to avoid them suicide bombers anyway.

    Phase 3: The soft landing
Of the planes taking away their off spring to another land looking for work.

Us Irish can really sort out this Israel problem and help the Polystyrene peoples

Get ready the Irish war canoes, we are on de way.

Childish? As compared to yours? I found your original post ridiculous. Maybe you would like to meet some concentration camp survivors and tell them to get over it? It's not history for them. That was their life. Maybe you could do with a visit to Auschwitz. I'm not just talking about the Jews either.

It's an ugly period in history which we forget at our peril.

This is the state that state that forges our passports, attacks and kidnaps our citizens, why shouldn't we be pi**ed off with them.

Couldn't care less what people think ?? These the very same people who are always screaming " anti semiticism.......the holocaust....anti semiticism.......the holocaust" when their's the slighest criticism of them ?

Didn't defeat Eygpt in Suez in 1956 ( which they did along with the French and British ). And those Hamas boys are hardly a defeated force now are they.

Regardless, their the 51st state of America. The ' great military power of Israel ' wouldn't last for a month without the US .

Good point. Israel blockades a slum, many of whose people are descended from those they forcibly evicted from their homes in 1948, regular attacks same place with helicopter gunships and missiles, sends assasination squads against anyone with the temerity to agitate against their version of events, attacks and kills the crews of unarmed ships with civilian cargoes on the high seas, labels everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, who disagrees with them as a fellow traveller with terrorists and or Nazis and we...............
...will be supporting Slovenia when they play England.

Even the provos have put their guns away FFS.

    We've moved on.
