Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can someone tell me whether or not the Playstation 3 delivers full blu-ray standard pictures?
If it does then it seems the PS3 might be a better buy than a dedicated blu-ray player.

Yes it does. And does so very well. Both HD Video and Audio.

The only downsides are the region lock (you can now get multi region BR players fairly handy) and the lack of a "normal" remote control - you can use the controller or buy a sony BlueTooth one, or you can buy a BT/IR dongle if you have a universal learning remote.

Don't let these put you off though, if you were thinking of getting a ps3 for games too anyway, there is no need to duplicate hardware.

With the PS3, you can use it as a general media player too. :D

Sort of. It isn't as general as it could be, and transfers the problem of transcoding to the UPnP source rather than accepting more formats itself. This means that a lot of low powered NAS devices where they could stream a file cannot transcode and stream the file.

Of course you could run PS3Mediaserver on your computer, but that negates the benefits of a NAS. Or you could just buy a proper media player that _does_ support a greater selection of file formats.

Having said all that, I do use it for the pictures, mp3's and movies that do work until I find a better solution.
