So how exactly would the fundraising aspect of this work?

  • Registered Users Posts: 396 ✭✭chunkis

bollox to this idea, if people wanna donate to this evo flight donate, forget staying in the xgc and wasting money.

    Donate directly.

If people want to play all night, terry has been kind enough to set up a games night at his place later this month, people can now or then it makes no difference.

I'm not sure if Terry wants that volume of people at his apartment all night though (especially if he may not know some of them well). We can get a lot more people involved if we do something at the XGC.

Also don't forget Q-Con is the week AFTER this.

(If this goes ahead on the 19th)

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

I wont be able to go on the 19th myself.

I have this in mind so i'm checking the possibility of renting the pub across the road or else using the common room or games room in my apartment block rather than using my apartment. But there's no reason why we can't do the xgc all-nighter also.

Here's a suggestion, why don't we do an all-nighter in xgc on the night of EVO!! We can watch evo live (streaming on a tv via laptop or whatever) and play casuals inbetween. I would definitely go to that!

It could still be a retrospective evo fundraiser.

    That's a great idea Terry.

    I'd be up for that.

Wasn't the idea of the all nighter to get some funding for the evo flight?

Yes but we could do it and make a delayed contribution

Yeah the EVO all nighter was something I thought about.

If people prefer that then sounds good to me. Gives us a date to work towards as well.

The Street Fighter was a great movie.

So first or second night of EVO? July 9th or july 10th?

Lets make a choice and get the ball rolling.

Also does anyone want to get the food that was offered? Let me know and I'll see if I can get menus or something.

I was under the impression that this was a weekend thing though. Some of us have work and doing this during the week would limit the numbers quite a bit.

    Just saying.

I think the final day of EVO, July 11th, would be better (the text you quoted said they'd accommodate any day); probably not much for those who have to work on the Monday. Last year's SFIV final was epic: one of three times competitive gaming became a real spectator sport for me.

I'd definitely attend if it's on the Sunday. I'd prefer the Saturday if Sunday isn't an option for most of the people.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭Sisko

What night is the Evo final on Saturday night or what? Also what time does it start at normally (our time) I've never watched one live before.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

I think last year the SFIV final was at 5 or 6am.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭animaX

I'd like to watch the SSF4 final, so whenever thats on!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

The final would be the Sunday/Monday, which as stated would affect a lot of people for jobs and such.

As always it's up to the masses but it's looking like we won't get the numbers. Could always do regular events on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday with a laptop to watch the recorded stream rather then the live.
