Two arrested following Dublin hijacking, robbery

A large part of Smithfield in Dublin is sealed off after a hijacking incident.
It is understood a man was attacked as he was making a cash delivery to a post office on Queen Street at lunchtime.
At quarter past twelve this afternoon, two men hailed down a taxi in Dublin City Centre and pointing a gun to the drivers head, they ordered him to take them to Prussia Street.
But then later told the driver to get out of the car and they locked him the boot.
They drove the taxi to the post office on Prussia Street and waited there for a cash and transit van to make a delivery of cash.
When the van arrived, the men approached the driver and ordered him to hand over the cash.
They fled the scene and abandoned the car on nearby Queen Street.
Gardaí were alerted and arrested the two men a short time later.
They are being held at Bridewell Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
All of the cash has been recovered.
