Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a 105 Octalink chainset (FC-5502) and an octalink bottom bracket. Can anyone tell me what tool I need to extract the cranks for this bb? Thanks!

If it's the same as an octalink mtb chainset which I'm sure it is, then you just need a standard crank extacting tool that screws into the crank and then when you screw in the centre part of the tool it will push against the end of the axle (because the axle is hollow you will need to insert a suitably sized bolt into the axle for the tool to push against) and pull off the crank. Does that make sense?!

Yeah it makes sense so it does. I take it that I shouldn't be looking at "crank pullers" then?

I have always called the "standard crank extracting tool" a Crank Puller.
I think they are the same tool.

As mentioned above- the BB is hollow so you may need a bolt for the crank extractor to push against -- a workaround is to use a 1 or 2 cent coin

The newer park tools crank extractors dont work, the older ones did. some crank extractors come with two pins that can be screwed in depending on the BB.
Or as said wedge a 2c in :D

I went for the Park Tool CCP-44 in the end and it worked great.
