Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know of any bars in Dublin who have 'adopted' teams which would be good spots for a bit of banter with locals on hols or living here?

Example: I know the Woolshed will obviously be the place to watch Australia games.

I've adopted Holland, so any advice on bars for their matches will be great.

    Cheers

Sorry to take this outside Dublin but Derry are doing an interesting thing where the bars have taken a team each and while that teams match is on all pints are £2.00 each, I think thats a great idea and id say Ill be availing of this offer a few times living on the border :p

Yeah saw that during the last World Cup too, what is that I wonder? Mexican owner or something?

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Czech Inn in Temple Bar & The Living Room on Cathal Brugha Street for Slovakia's games.

The Sugar Club also has lots of Brazilian nights and I heard they will be showing Brazil games in there for the Brazilian community.

But you'd wear a Holland one?

the Dutch Army did as much to wreck Irish politics and history as the English did. :)

Ah cool, post was more in jest than an anything .

It's just most of my relatives in Dublin are Man Utd fans and when Scholes , Beckham ,Sheringham were regulars for Utd they would be great guys , idols , cheering them on no problem . But as soon as they put the 3 lions shirt on there was every sort of abuse imaginable thrown at them which I thought was amusing if not slightly ironic .

Can't remember where I was the other night (might have been a GAA club actually ) but they had signs up saying that Spain and Mexico were their adopted teams.

As an aside, should boards.ie have an official adopted team?

Yeah I have heard of this deal. Also applies in the following:

The Confession Box - Marlborough St.
    Neds - Townsend St.
    The Windjammer - Lombard St.
    Farrells - New St.

I think getting the pubs to adopt different teams is a great ides. it will get the crowds going, since we dont have a team of our own to shout for.

    brilliant idea

The confession box has been closed for a good while now. Used to be my local for the aul ballad sessions. Seen they were working on the outside of it the other day but looked more like a coffee shop than the pub reopening.

Now that I think of it, it's called the Killinarden House these days.

    Deal still applies though, lads.

Judging by the lack of pubs who have adopted team, I reckon they've missed an opportunity to get their places packed - ah well - No dutch pubs by the looks of it:(

In Cork, there'll surely be a few pubs for adopted teams in Blackpool.
