Just doing a brush up of poetry, and was looking to see would anyone be able to help. So post the poet, the quote and how that is signiicant to your essay or your views on the poet

    I'll start off:

    Michael Longley, Last Requests
"I who brought peppermints and grapes only
couldn't reach you through the oxygen tent"

Show's the poets dismay and his inability to connect with his father

(Yes I know that's an easy point to start off on, but I'm trying to give example ;))

Eavan Boland : The Famine Road

"You never will, never you know
but take it well woman, grow
    your garden, keep house, good-bye"
    • the dismissive attitude of the fertility doctor
    • the view of women in society
well i would probably use this quote as well:

"Barren never to know the load
of his child in you, what is your body
now if not a famine road?"
    • the feeling of uselessness
    • the uniqueness of Eavan Boland to draw up a comparassion between an infertile woman and a famine road
    • the way she links the past with the present.
    this is fun!:D

    Adrienne Rich, Storm Warnings

"Weather abroad and weather in the heart alike come on regardless of prediction"
Comments on how little control we have over our emotions and how easily they can overwhelm us without any indication.

    "Child of our time
our times have robbed you of your cradle
Sleep in a world your final sleep has woken"

the death of the innocent child has shocked our world into waking up to the cruel reality, where a child can be arbitrarily killed, while the child sleeps the sleep of death

best poem on the course! beside this moment amd the pomegranate....:p
