    God, it's so difficult.

    We we're thinking of a Blondie song, but I don't know.. :(

Really could use a few decent suggestions...

If you come up with one and it end up on the record I'll thank you in the artwork.

    No really I will.

    Thanks in advance!

Prefer a known famous track or something more obscure?

    I'll get you started :)

The Indigo Girls - Shame on You http://www.myspace.com/indigogirlsmusic

    live the lyric

"Let's go roadblock tripping in the middle of the night up in Gainesville town
There'll be blue lights flashing down the long dirt road when they ask me to
    step out
They say, "we're looking for illegal immigrants can we check your car?"
I said, "it's funny I think we were on the same boat back in 1694"

Hmmm... Not sure we could exactly pull off and IG song.

I would say, in answer to your question, a song people know...

We'd record it though, so it'd be more than just a crowd pleaser... If you know what I mean...

Pfft.. all you need is an acoustic and 2 lesbians.. if nothing else, it would make for an interesting night out ;)

This is why I didn't want to put this in PYB.

Not only is this forum a ghost town, but I don't partically want the guy pimping his trad band (not that there's anything wrong with it) telling to cover some folk song.

Sometimes these artificial constraints don't work properly.

it's tough when trying to sort out a cover!

We used to practice a load of covers just for warming up and stuff, but one day we decided to try make a cover "our own".

So we gave it a go with a song we all love, We Share Our Mother's Health by The Knife

People seem to think it has worked (it definately can't be accused of sounding too close to the original :pac:)

So........ my recommendation would be Pass This On by The Knife, because i love it and would LOVE to cover it :D

Gigantic by pixies or cannonball by the breeders. or is that to obvious?

What about superstar by the carpenters (sonic youth covered - it really well)

could you do something different with animal tracks by mountain man? which i only mention as I like it.

What about 'hey hey my my' by neil young

Get me off by Basement Jaxx

    Röyksopp - Remind me

Have the smiths come into your thoughts at all? Girlfriend in a Coma maybe? A bit of an indie cliché perhaps but still great music and something you can possibly branch out to people with...that's about as mainstream as my taste goes so I'll not bore you with any other suggestions :)

    Nice tunes btw.

    thanks!

Girlfriend in a Coma is a great tune. It's actually the first Smiths song I "got" as a teen.

I'm not sure we could do it, bt it's actually a decent idea!

I also like the Breeders idea... Though cannonball I don't know, maybe live, but I don't know how we could possibly top the recording.. Or add anything or whatever.

I'll listen to the gaslight anthem stuff and see what I can see.. ;)

    thanks again guys!!

How about one bourbon, one scotch, one beer by George Thorogood and teh Destroyers - that'll get anyone going - a bit of work for the guitar though - depends on your interpretation

How about "use somebody", the acoustic version by Pixie Lott.
Would suit your singers voice. Pixie's version is good but your singer could nail this.

    See below.

    Or is this too mainstream?

Thanks for the suggestion... nothing is too mainstream for us... ;)

It's funny how many times KOL is referenced in relation to TRT.

I was never a huge fan, but Elaine loves 'em... :D

    I'll ask her about this!

    No problem Chris,

I think that song would suit her voice. Maybe piano instead of acoustics but pared down. Elaine could do this in her sleep:D
