I have brought my car through the nct twice now, an failed on emissions.
The first time de lambda reading was 1.06 the co reading was .079% and hc reading was under 200 as required.
The garage did a computer check and said that de o2 sensors were sound. They found a hole in de exhaust near the back and repaired it, when i went for the retest it failed again, this time the lambda reading was 1.04 the co was 1.16% and the hc reading was off the scale at 946ppm.
Had a recent emission test done by a garage there lambda reading was 1.09, co was 1.06% and hc was 1146ppm.
I recently had a new cat put in I’ve only done about 2000 miles on it but it’s a universal one. Any ideas what it could be wrong??
    oh its a 97 lancer 1.3

your to honest ..... should throw some fuel additive in car before the NCT , not the perfect solution but will get you through nct .Other than that think its a problem with catalytic convertor

I doubt fuel additive is going to help that, HC levels are through the roof and climbing! Could be from fuel going unburnt, so maybe an ignition problem of some sort. That cat is either fcuked or is going to be wrecked pretty soon from those emissions.

yea and the worst is the hc past first time, it passed the low idle emission bt failed high idle, an then failed evrything next time round. how do you mean from fuel going unburnt how can i stop that

44K fuel additive works wonders, passed my Micra, Escort, and my parent's diesel Mazda 626.
