Folks, the letting agent is looking for a reference from my employer, any ideas what this should say?

X is in full-time employment with our company since <date>

    Should suffice. :)

I personally think that looking for an employer's reference is going way beyond a landlord's station, but the landlord is basically making sure that you're in stable employment and you're not going to be messing him around claiming that you can't pay the rent or suddenly moving out because you've got some part-time/casual work on the other side of the country.

People in employment also tend to keep social hours.

Just to say that you're in stable employment, the rest is pretty much a character reference. It should stay that you're responsible, reliable and trustworthy etc. It doesnt have to go into the ins and outs of your employment.

Ask your boss [or HR if your in a big company] saying that you need a reference for a new gaff. They will get requests like that all the time.

They will have a template saying you work there, and print it off for you.
