Right so paper one is done, now lets move on to paper II......

    I plan to study:

    • General vision and viewpoint
    • Yeats, Eliot, Longley, Kavanagh
    • King Lear himself, sub-plot, imagery, nature
    Yep, that's it :)

    What about everyone else?

Boland, Kavanagh, Longley. (Will touch on Yeats and Elliot just in case)

Lear: Sibling Rivalry, love as a redemptice force, Imagery, Lear.

    LG

When people say nature for Lear, do you mean like human nature? Because sure I could fit that round Good V Evil/Love Redemptive force. Unless you mean nature as in the storm?

Can anyone elaborate on Imagery a little bit? Can't think off hand what you mean, bit rusty :o

I'd say do two of the comparitives so that you're at least guaranteed one.

Can anyone link me to some notes on Love as a redemptive force, Nature, Sibling rivalry and possibly the Fool?

Can someone give me a low down on what you'd say for sibling rivalry? Obviously the rivalry between Goneril and Regan over Edmund, and between Edmund and Edgar over land, but I'm not sure what else you could say after that...

    I've studied the following:
    • General Vision and Viewpoint.
    • Longley, Kavanagh, Boland.
    • Lear: Sinning, Learns, Punished.
    Should I study anything else?
    Or will that be sufficient?

I'm not sure if I could get 4-5 pages out of that though!

    Cordelia/Goneril and Regan
    Goneril/Regan
    Edgar/Edmund

You can basically pad out by saying what a **** Edmund is. ALWAYS say how much of a **** Edmund is.

Thoughts on chances of Literary Genre coming up? On Countdown to 906 they said it's more than likely that and GV+V.

Literary genre on the paper is more of a need than a want for me at this stage!

Hahaha well ideally there'll be something about Lear's character or theme of love so I won't have to do sibling rivalry.

The Fool though...better not come up!

How much are you expected to write for paper 2

    King Lear - 3-4 pages (60 marks)

    Comparative (i) 3-4 pages (70 marks)

    or (ii) 1.5 pages (30 marks) & 2 pages (40 marks)

    Poetry - Unseen 1 page (20 marks)

Prepared Poetry 3 pages (50 marks)

would this be about right.. i don't see the whole fuss about poetry seeing as the comparative and king lear are worth more than it...

but in general would this be about the right standard to right... when i say 2 pages i will get 3 pages and will maybe an extra quarter to half a page extra etc etc... is this enough to be writnig

Under GV+V what themes are you supposed to deal with?

    I've got

    • Daily Life
    • Optimistic/Pessimistic
    • Moral Vision
    Is that enough?

    ...V V and C C covered
    ...Boland and Rich covered
...Lear tryin to start now :D
any tips what to study on Lear? cuz i got loads of stuff on him...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Compton

Quality, not quantity. You can write a 3 page essay and get 100 marks for the essay.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Compton

I just write how much I feel is needed. I don't just write for the craic to fill pages.

i know everyone says there's gonna be boland or rich... isn't this way to obvious... surely the guys setting the exam know this is what people are thinking and will try to catch people out... for them this could be the question that seperate's a's from c's it just seems to obvious... i'm gonna learn boland and look over rich but i'm still gonna look over yeats and kavanagh in case like... i wouldn't bank on the 2 women this year...

after all this was the first year they never gave an essay based on a picture...
